Grants from two foundations support art-making in our community
The Point Richmond-based Gateway Foundation continues to show generous support for Arts of Point Richmond. This year, in response to a grant proposal from Sharon Goods and Kenoli Oleary, AOPR received $4,000 from Gateway to fund the ever-popular "Taking it Outdoors" banner project and a portion of Art Stroll expenses. Look for a new round of TIO banners to coincide with the second annual Art Stroll on April 8, 2023. Photo above by Rita Gardner shows the Gateway Grant certificate being accepted by Dee and Ward Bell in Sharon and Kenoli's absence.
Thanks to a referral from AOPR member Jan Chleboun, the Denali Foundation donated $1,800 of art and craft supplies to Washington School and the TIO-Kids project. Sharon and Kenoli have sorted, organized and labeled the supplies (pictured above) and the teachers are ecstatic! Students will use these new supplies to create art for the next round of TIO-Kids banners, scheduled to appear in Spring, 2023.
