I am a long-time Richmond resident and former independent industrial designer and metal fabricator originally from Mexico City.
A few years ago I decided to quit metal fabrication; it was too heavy and painful and it began to pay a toll on my body. I decided that it was better to close the door of the shop for good before I hurt myself. I sold everything, even the screwdrivers!
In Mexico everybody is an artist; they think art is a hobby. I guess I think the same way, because today I dedicate my time and energy to painting large format figure watercolors, in specific the female human body. Taking advantage of my background as a designer, I use digital tools to create a virtual scene, which I then project onto paper before bringing in the mood and color.
I told you—everybody in Mexico is an artist!
