I’ve been enamored of trees and their imposingly protective presence since my childhood. They were my friends, as I innocently sang to them, danced around them, and gladly absorbed their companionship. Thus, it’s no surprise to me that they’ve become the personalities that they exude in my art.
They always show up prominently in my work, guiding my every stroke as I attempt to describe the light that dances around them, the color that sculpts them, and the weight that holds them firmly to our land.
Pastels have been my medium of choice for over twenty years, and now I’m venturing into the world of oils. I have to admit that this medium’s tactile sensuality presents a whole new way of delivering my ideas to the canvas. With each new work, I’m learning the demands, flexibilities, and pleasures of the paint. It’s a whole new ball game, and I’m enjoying it immensely.
My hope is that you’ll find that little magic nature offers all of us through these various pieces.
